Almost four years from the enactment of the Data Privacy Act, its Implementing Rules and Regulations have finally been promulgated. In early September 2016, the IRR took effect and within one-year from effectivity, all private and government entities must comply with the extensive requirements of the law.
Certainly, the compliance process requires many changes within each organization, and the uniqueness of the nature of each entity will influence the compliance roadmap. In very general terms, compliance with the law will involve three (3) disparate domains: the law, information technology and corporate governance.
The Disini Tech Legal Forum has organized this seminar to tackle these challenges and provide practical tools to aid in the formulation of a compliance roadmap. Experts in the domains mentioned will present the law, outline the technical requirements and discuss the governance issues that inescapably confronts the compliance process.
Given the tight one-year deadline set by the National Privacy Commission for full compliance, it is important to begin the process and marshal internal resources to avoid the criminal penalties imposed by the law.
